Gary was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to California after he married in 1959. His work transferred him from California to Oregon and back to California again. He retired in 1998 after 25 years with the same company and moved to Arizona. Gary did not start to paint until after his retirement and was inspired by an artist/teacher by the name of Jerry Yarnell.  Gary followed Jerry’s teachings through workshops and Public Television programs. Much of Gary’s work reflects Jerry Yarnell’s techniques and instruction. Gary still resides in Arizona and loves to paint desert landscapes.
